While all the factions work slightly differently and have unique mechanics, all of them share the same central tenets - 9 faction units and 9 upgrades, 6 heroes and 6 alternate heroes, 2 unique faction hero skills and at least 3 unique buildings.

IIRC you get +8 for infantry, +4 for cannons, +2 for the tanky infantry, and +1 for sirens.
