Webyep, if fires go out and white fog gate goes up by the doors, either you are being invaded or you are trying to summon someone for some jolly co-operation. Not to be lame, but if you find that you can't access a bonfire, it's most likely because you are about to be invaded. The game locks you out of Bonfires if you are attempting to connect.
